Director of Development – 1 position available

Description: PAR is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising programs for the nonprofit, non-partisan educational public policy organization. The Director of Development will be a vital part of PAR’s leadership team who can take the organization to its next stage of development, fulfill its strategic plan and excel at pursuing PAR’s mission.

Policy Research Interns – 1 internship available

Description: Duties include assisting senior staff with research projects, compiling PAR’s Guide to the Louisiana Legislature for print and digital media, assisting with Internet and mobile-device communications and administrative tasks.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree. The ideal intern would be enrolled in graduate study in public administration, political science, mass communication or other related field. Strong written and verbal communications skills. An ability to work in cooperation with others. Strong assets for the candidate would include a general knowledge of state government operations, experience with data collection and analysis and an interest in pursuing a career in public policy. Knowledge of software programs such as InDesign, Word, Excel and webpage content management systems, or a willingness to learn, would be an asset.

Term: Part-time position, 16-20 hours per week, to be filled in August/September 2018 for a period up to one academic year.

Compensation:  $10 per hour.

Development  Intern – 1 internship available

Description:  Duties include assisting in PAR’s Development and Communication activities. The student will be involved in projects such as: PAR’s Annual Meeting; website; newsletter publication; membership recruitment and retention; marketing of PAR publications; donor correspondence; donor research; and grant writing.

Qualifications:  We are seeking a student with strong communication skills, written and verbal, who would be able to interface with PAR’s various target audiences (members, potential members, policy makers, the governmental research community and the general public).

Terms: Part time position, 10 hours per week, to be filled from August/ September 2018 until the end of the fall semester with an option for renewal.

Compensation: Stipend.
