PAR Holds 2011 Annual Conference and Luncheon on April 29

The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) will hold its 2011 Annual Conference and Luncheon on Friday, April 29, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. Table sponsorships and individual tickets are available for reservation now.

The keynote speaker James Carville will focus on current and future politics. James “The Ragin’ Cajun” Carville is America’s best-known political consultant. He is a best-selling author, actor, talk-show host and restaurateur. Carville is a frequent political commentator on CNN. He serves as a Professor of Practice at Tulane University in New Orleans, where he lives with his wife Mary Matalin and their two daughters.

Governor Bobby Jindal will be part of the luncheon agenda and will be addressing the audience during the first week of the regular legislative session. House Speaker Jim Tucker, R-Algiers, and Sen. Eric LaFleur, D-Ville Platte, will participate in a morning panel discussion focused on the legislative session and the state’s budget challenges. They will be joined by Associated Press Capital Bureau Chief Melinda Deslatte. The panel moderator is Shauna Sanford, news anchor for Louisiana Public Broadcasting.

The half-day conference is open to the public. The cost is $85 per person ($75 for PAR members). Lunch is included in the price. Reserved sponsorship tables for 10 are also available at a cost of $1,000 for gold tables and $750 for silver tables. PAR’s membership and Board of Directors will meet at 9:30 a.m. and the panel will begin at 10 a.m. The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m.
