PAR releases Campaign Finance fact sheet
The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) has released a citizen fact sheet on campaign finance disclosures and public access to campaign reports. The fact sheet offers a plain-language explanation of the Louisiana laws governing campaign donations and spending with practical tips on how the public can access campaign finance records. PAR also will be making the fact sheet available in Spanish and Vietnamese.
The release of the fact sheet is timed to assist citizens in navigating campaign finance reports for the fall elections, including a key filing deadline for September 22. The fact sheet can be found on PAR’s Web site for download and printing. The document is part of a series of fact sheets designed to be distributed by citizen groups as reference tools for guidance through the sometimes complicated process of accessing public records and information.
Funding for this project was provided by the Open Society Foundation in collaboration with the New Orleans Coalition on Open Governance. For additional information and research on government transparency in Louisiana, go to PAR’s Web site at www.la-par.org.
