PAR’s 2004 Annual Conference to Focus on Health Care

The Public Affairs Research Council will hold its 2004 Annual Conference and Luncheon on Friday, April 23, at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Baton Rouge. This year’s conference will focus on the future of health care in Louisiana.
Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco has been invited to give welcoming remarks. U.S. Senator John Breaux, has been invited to speak at the luncheon. In addition, John Maginnis, Author, Syndicated Political Columnist and Publisher of Louisiana Political Fax Weekly will speak on “The Politics of Healthcare Reform.”
The morning session will feature a panel discussion on short- and long-term healthcare reforms and how to pay for them. Entitled “After the Healthcare Summit, Now What?,” the panel will include: Dr. Fred Cerise, Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals; Commissioner of Administration Jerry Luke LeBlanc; Stephen Moret, consultant with McKinsey & Company, Washington, D.C., Lynn Nicholas, president of the Louisiana Hospital Association; and Johnny Rombach, Legislative Fiscal Officer. Robyn Ekings, with Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB), will moderate the morning’s panel discussion.
The half-day conference is open to the public, and the cost is $85 per person ($75 for PAR members). The luncheon is included in the price. Reserved sponsorship tables of 10 are also available at a cost of $1,000 or $750. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. PAR’s membership and Board of Directors will meet at 9:30 a.m., and the panel discussion will begin at 10 a.m.
