PAR Wins National Award at the Annual GRA Conference

Posted: 08/11/2004

The Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (PAR) recently received a national award from the Governmental Research Association (GRA). GRA is a national organization of individuals and groups who study and make recommendations on state and local policy issues. The award to PAR was presented during the annual GRA conference held recently in Atlanta, Georgia.

PAR received the “Certificate of Merit for Effective Education” for its report, “2003 Guide to the Constitutional Amendments.” The 2003 Guide objectively explained the potential impact of 15 proposed constitutional amendments on the October 4, 2003 ballot. By providing background information, describing the proposed changes and presenting a commentary on the supporting and opposing arguments for each of the proposals, the Guide helped voters to decide whether to vote for or against each amendment.

The certificate is among over a dozen awards PAR has received from the GRA for its research throughout the last decade. “It is an honor to continually be recognized by our national peers for the quality of our research and the role PAR plays in helping Louisiana voters make informed decisions,” said Jim Brandt, PAR President.
