Opportunity is knocking for Louisiana. The state and its metro regions can, and should, join the ranks of other areas across the nation and around the world with diverse economies built on creative human capital and innovation.
Louisiana state government is failing its duty to provide leadership and accountability for public school education in the upcoming academic year. The situation has reached a crisis level with serious potential consequences for students, parents, teachers and all of us as stakeholders in the future of Louisiana.
Proposed changes would improve the process but the best reform is the example set by legislative leaders. Proposed legislation and related reforms by Tulane University follow several PAR recommendations and constitute a worthwhile package of changes to the college’s Legislative Scholarship program.
